Fans of the series have already taken a trip down memory lane with Yagami more than once, now it’s time for a glimpse into Kaito’s youth as his past catches up with him. The DLC upgrades Kaito from sidekick to boss man as he’s left to run the Detective Agency in Takayuki Yagami’s absence. You’d be forgiven for thinking this is the beginning of some KaitoxHigashi fanfic, but it’s actually a scene from Lost Judgment’s The Kaito Files DLC. An apron-clad Toru Higashi carefully serves the two gentlemen some tea as they discuss business. In the meantime, players will be able to jump back into the adventures of the Yagami Detective Agency when Lost Judgement hits stores.Fully suited and booted in his smartest get-up, Masaharu Kaito sits with his typical man-spreading pose in the Yagami Detective Agency as he speaks with a potential client. After all, Kaito is fairly popular among those who have played Judgement, and his backstory as a former Yakuza member-turned-criminal investigator could make for some interesting stories if Sega decides to phase Yagami out in the future. Naturally, some fans are starting to speculate that this upcoming, Kaito-centric Lost Judgement DLC is Sega’s way of continuing the Judgement series by shifting to a new protagonist. This has prevented both Judgement games from being made available on Steam, which in turn has Sega considering whether to abandon the spin-off to their popular Yakuza series after Lost Judgement is finished. While fans are certainly excited to see more of Yagami and Kaito in action this fall, the future of the Judgement franchise has recently been put in doubt due to a legal dispute by the talent agency representing Yagami’s Japanese VA, Takuya Kimura. Yagami helps Kaito uncover the truth behind this incident, and Kaito's experience as part of the mob makes him a valued ally whenever Yagami is forced to resort to combat throughout Judgement's story - which is centered around a serial killer known as 'The Mole.' Not only is Kaito set to return to help Yagami in Lost Judgement, but it appears fans will also get the chance to play as Kaito in an upcoming DLC expansion. Kaito once served as a high-ranking Yakuza lieutenant, until he was expelled for failing to stop a thief robbing the Matsugane Family's office a few years before the events of Judgement.

One of the most noteworthy figures surrounding Yagami in his never-ending search for justice is Kaito, a gruff-yet-loyal partner at the Yagami Detective Agency.
